Simple and Unique Salty Coffee

Salt is a common, simple coffee flavor seasoning, just add a little salt to your coffee to make your coffee more flavorful and tastier!

One of the most widely-known customs is when Turkish coffee is dosed with large spoonfuls of salt and served by the bride to the groom. The custom is seen as both a test of the groom’s demeanor and a symbol of the fact that marriage is not always sweet.

If the groom is able to finish the cup of coffee without displaying displeasure at the taste, it is believed that he has a good temperament.

What are the benefits of salt?

1.Reduce bitterness and balance coffee flavor

Salt can suppress the bitterness of the coffee and accentuate the sweetness, thereby balancing the coffee's flavor. Your bitterness may come from dark roasted coffee beans, poor quality coffee beans, or brewing mistakes.

Because the sodium-containing compounds in salt can inhibit the bitter-tasting compounds in coffee, enhancing the taste attributes of other food ingredients. For example, sodium inhibits bitter compounds (quinine hydrochloride, caffeine, magnesium sulfate, and potassium chloride), which accentuate the sweetness of coffee.

 2. Salt adds sodium to the body

Sodium is essential mineral and electrolytes, trace amounts of sodium are good for the body:

Maintains euthyroidism.

Antibacterial effect.

Helps regulate nervous system function.

Prevents dehydration, coffee is a diuretic, which causes the body to lose more salt, and adding salt to coffee helps to regulate the salt levels a bit.

Promotes the release of vasopressin (or antidiuretic hormone), reduces the risk of low blood, and promotes vascular health.

How to add salt to coffee more scientifically?

Some people sprinkle salt directly into the coffee powder to brew or put it into the coffee, but for you who are trying to add salt yourself for the first time, how can you better make a delicious salty coffee at one time?

The method of coffee consultant and World Barista Champion James Hoffmann is to melt the salt with a small amount of water and slowly drip the brine into the coffee.
He found that adding 0.3g of a saline solution with 20% concentration noticeably improved the taste and mouthfeel of a low-quality instant coffee.

Note the place::

But beware that salts can steal the show in the flavor, and they may obscure the uniqueness or subtle complexity of a high-quality coffee.People with the following physical problems should not add salt to coffee, such as acid reflux, heart disease, high blood pressure, and kidney disease.
